Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Southeast TN Consultants?
Southeast TN Consultants is a digital marketing and technology consulting company led by Matthew Dell, bringing more than 20 years of experience in digital marketing, website strategy, SEO, advertising, e-commerce, analytics, and technical development.
While Matthew leads strategy, client relationships, and project direction, Southeast TN Consultants also works with a network of talented professionals and specialists when a project requires additional expertise. This allows us to assemble the right combination of skills for each engagement while maintaining direct accountability, consistent communication, and strategic oversight.
Our approach is intentionally hands-on. Clients work with experienced professionals rather than being passed through layers of account management, and we scale resources based on the needs of the project.
What does Southeast TN Consultants do?
Southeast TN Consultants provides digital marketing, website development, SEO, AI readiness, local search optimization, paid advertising, analytics, and custom technical solutions for businesses, organizations, and public-sector clients. We help clients improve how they are found, understood, and engaged with online.
What types of clients do you work with?
We work with small and mid-sized businesses, e-commerce companies, multi-location organizations, manufacturers, professional service firms, healthcare-related businesses, nonprofits, educational organizations, and government or public-sector entities.
Do you only work with businesses in Tennessee?
No. While we are based in the Southeast and regularly serve clients throughout Tennessee, Georgia, and the surrounding region, we also work with organizations across the United States, including national e-commerce and multi-location businesses.
Do you build new websites?
Yes. We design and develop new websites and also rebuild, modernize, or improve existing websites. Our work commonly includes WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, custom integrations, conversion optimization, SEO, structured data, accessibility improvements, and performance enhancements.
Can you manage an existing website instead of rebuilding it?
Yes. A complete rebuild is not always necessary. We often take over existing websites and improve them through technical fixes, design updates, SEO, content improvements, accessibility, speed optimization, security, analytics, and ongoing maintenance.
Do you work with WordPress and Shopify?
Yes. We regularly work with WordPress, WooCommerce, and Shopify, including theme customization, custom functionality, product data, structured content, integrations, analytics, and e-commerce optimization.
What is AI readiness for a website?
AI readiness focuses on making your website easier for search engines, AI platforms, and large language models to understand. This can include structured data, schema markup, content organization, entity relationships, technical SEO, authoritative content, and machine-readable information.
Do you provide SEO services?
Yes. Our SEO services can include technical SEO, on-page optimization, local SEO, content strategy, structured data, website architecture, analytics, competitive analysis, and ongoing search visibility improvements.
Do you manage Google Ads and paid advertising?
Yes. We manage paid search and digital advertising campaigns, including Google Search, Shopping, Performance Max, Meta advertising, display, video, connected TV, and other targeted digital campaigns depending on the client’s goals.
Do you provide local SEO for businesses with multiple locations?
Yes. Multi-location SEO is one of our areas of experience. We can help manage location pages, Google Business Profiles, local search visibility, structured data, geographic targeting, citations, and content strategies for multiple markets.
Do you offer custom development?
Yes. We build custom WordPress plugins, WooCommerce enhancements, Shopify functionality, integrations, APIs, structured data systems, administrative tools, and other custom solutions when off-the-shelf tools do not fully meet a client’s needs.
How does the process begin?
Most projects begin with a discovery conversation. We review your goals, current website or marketing environment, challenges, audience, competitive landscape, and priorities before recommending a strategy or scope of work.
Do you provide proposals before work begins?
Yes. For most engagements, we provide a written proposal or scope of work outlining the recommended services, project objectives, deliverables, estimated timeline, pricing, and any important assumptions.
Do you charge hourly or by project?
We use both approaches depending on the work. Some projects are quoted as a fixed project fee, while consulting, development, maintenance, advertising management, and ongoing support may be billed hourly or through a monthly agreement.
Can you work within an existing budget?
Yes. When possible, we can prioritize work based on budget, urgency, and expected impact. We would rather define a realistic phased approach than recommend services that do not fit the client’s actual needs or resources.
Do you require long-term contracts?
Not always. Contract structure depends on the engagement. Some projects are one-time assignments, while SEO, marketing, advertising, website support, and ongoing optimization typically perform better as continuing engagements.
Who owns the website and marketing assets?
Unless otherwise specified in an agreement, clients generally retain ownership of their website content, domains, advertising accounts, analytics accounts, creative assets, and other business-related digital properties created specifically for them.
Will I have access to my accounts?
Yes. We strongly prefer that clients maintain appropriate ownership and administrative access to important platforms such as domains, hosting, Google Analytics, advertising accounts, Google Business Profiles, websites, and e-commerce systems.
Do you provide ongoing website maintenance and support?
Yes. We provide website maintenance, updates, troubleshooting, security support, backups, performance monitoring, technical improvements, and ongoing development depending on the client's needs.
Can you work with our existing marketing team or vendors?
Yes. We often work alongside internal marketing teams, designers, IT departments, hosting providers, advertising partners, and other vendors. We can serve as a lead digital partner or provide specialized support in specific areas.
Do you work with government agencies and public-sector organizations?
Yes. We pursue and support government, educational, municipal, and public-sector projects involving website management, digital communications, accessibility, SEO, digital advertising, AI readiness, analytics, and related technology services. See our Government Capabilities.
Do you support website accessibility?
Yes. We can evaluate websites for accessibility issues and help improve compliance with commonly used accessibility standards such as WCAG. Accessibility work can include auditing, remediation, testing, content improvements, and ongoing quality assurance.
How do you measure results?
Measurement depends on the project. We may track website traffic, conversions, leads, search visibility, advertising performance, revenue, engagement, local search performance, technical health, or other KPIs that align with the client’s goals.
Do you provide reporting?
Yes. Reporting can include analytics dashboards, SEO reporting, advertising performance, conversion data, technical findings, campaign summaries, and strategic recommendations. We provide access to dashboards where applicable and regular detailed reporting.
What makes Southeast TN Consultants different?
We combine marketing strategy with hands-on technical capability. Instead of separating SEO, website development, analytics, advertising, structured data, and AI readiness into isolated services, we look at how those pieces work together to support the client’s overall goals.
Our structure also gives clients direct access to experienced leadership while allowing us to bring in specialized talent when needed. That provides the flexibility of a larger team without unnecessary layers between the client and the people doing the work.
How do I request a proposal?
Contact us with a brief description of your organization, current needs, goals, and any important deadlines. We can then determine the best next step, which may include a discovery call, website review, technical audit, or formal proposal.
