Installation & Setup

Use this guide to install SETN Schema Builder and complete the first configuration steps.

WordPress.org Free Version

1. Log in to WordPress as an administrator.
2. Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin.
3. Search for SETN Schema Builder.
4. Click Install Now, then Activate.

Downloaded or Licensed Version

1. Download the plugin ZIP from your SETN account or approved distribution source.
2. Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.
3. Select the ZIP file without unzipping it.
4. Click Install Now, then activate the plugin.

First Setup Checklist

• Open SETN Schema Builder in the WordPress admin.
• Review the Business Profile.
• Confirm compatibility/provider status.
• Activate your license if using a licensed edition.
• Review Schema Health after saving your initial settings.

Quick Start Guide

The fastest path from installation to a working structured knowledge layer is:

1. Install and activate SETN Schema Builder.
2. Define your organization in the Business Profile.
3. Add location and service-area information where applicable.
4. Review schema settings and supported content types.
5. Create or review Topics that describe your organization’s expertise.
6. Connect meaningful relationships between services, content, authors, FAQs, and topics.
7. Review compatibility with any SEO/schema plugin already active.
8. Check Schema Health and resolve important warnings.

You do not need to complete every optional field on the first day. Accurate information is more important than filling every available field.

System Requirements

SETN Schema Builder requires a supported WordPress environment and should be kept current with WordPress and PHP security updates.

• Use a current supported WordPress release.
• Use a supported PHP version for your SETN release.
• Ensure WordPress can make outbound HTTPS requests for licensing and updates where required.
• Use HTTPS on the public site.
• Maintain current database, theme, and plugin backups.

Exact minimum versions may change as the plugin evolves. Review the requirements shown in the plugin, product page, or current release notes before deployment.

Upgrading from Free

You can move from the WordPress.org Free edition to a licensed SETN edition without rebuilding your structured data configuration from scratch.

1. Create a full site backup.
2. Download the licensed SETN Schema Builder ZIP.
3. Upload the licensed ZIP through WordPress.
4. Approve replacing the existing plugin if WordPress prompts you.
5. Confirm that your Business Profile, Topics, and other settings remain intact.
6. Open Licensing & Updates and activate your new license.
7. Review Schema Health and provider compatibility after the upgrade.

If you maintain a staging site, perform the upgrade there first when practical.
